Poetry competition: The McLellan Poetry Prize 2024

Win £1,000 first prizes for poems in English and Scots in the competition from the Arran Theatre and Arts Trust

The McLellan Poetry Prize, now in its 18th year, is run by the Arran Theatre and Arts Trust as part of the annual McLellan Arts Festival.

Entries are invited of original, unpublished poems up to 40 lines, in English or Scots.

The winner in the English language category will receive £1,000. The second prize is £250. This year's judge in the English language category is William Letford.

The winner in the Scots language category will receive £1,000, and the runner up will get £250. The judge in the Scots language category is Jim Mackintosh.

There will be five highly commended poets in each category.

The entry fee is £7 for the first poem and £5 for any additional poems.

The closing date is 2 June.
